Hello, My name is James and I grew up in a small village called Bontddu on the Mawddach estuary in North Wales. Surrounded by hills and endless trails; just about the only thing to do was Mountain Biking.
My passion for tinkering with bikes started at the age of 12 and from this I decided to study engineering at Coleg Merion-Dwyfor and then went to university to study design engineering.
After a few years working in this field, I decided to return to my passion of bicycle mechanics.
I moved to Bristol and started working at The Bristol Bike Project and also at Evans Cycles.
I then made a big move to Rome, Italy with my partner where I first volunteered at Ciclofficina Centrale Ciclonauti Roma - via Baccina and then worked at BBike Tommorrow which sadly no longer exists.
I then moved to Vienna where I volunteered at a community workshop http://fahrrad.wuk.at/.
We then relocated back to Italy to live in Milan where I worked at Recicli Bikes & Café
We then moved to The Hague in the Netherlands where I worked at https://energiefietsen.nl/
After this we moved to Lyon, France where I volunteered at Le Recycleur which very sadly had to close.
Mud Cows was established in 2021 from my small garage in Menai Bridge. We currently have one trainee apprentice working part time. In the near future we are looking to relocate to a larger premises and expanding the business.
I look forward to meeting you all and your bikes!
A massive thank you to all of the lovely people who I have had the pleasure to work with over the years.
